这一次，《哈姆雷特》中毫无存在感的两个小人物，将成为主角。
罗森格兰兹和吉尔登斯吞，这两个蒙在鼓里的人从一开始就一直在扔钱币打赌、无聊可笑地探讨人生和他们所处的世界、好奇地窥探宫廷里那些他们不明白的秘密，完全没有想到他们是在执行国王企图杀死王子的密谋，更没有意识到命运使他们不明不白地送了命。两人一醒来便开始走向死亡，登场的全部时间，都在展示小人物的末日，好笑，又悲惨，这是现代人眼中的王子复仇记。
In this version of Hamlet, the two insignificant characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, become the protagonists. They are clueless individuals who unknowingly execute the king's plot to kill the prince and are led to their deaths. The play showcases the end of these small characters in a funny and tragic manner, which is a modern interpretation of the Prince's revenge story.

- l Hamlet kills Rosencrantz and Guildenstern before his death. According to Bernardine de Souza Pereira's Yuan Theater theory, it's a core element of the play. Both Stoppard's script and Shakespeare's original tragedy are full of drama, pantomime, and comments on theater theory and practice. Yuan Theater elements in Hamlet include actors' speeches, Hamlet's advice, and "The Mousetrap" play within the play. Since Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are original characters, Stoppard's play can be considered a Yuan Theater play. Stoppard parodies key elements of Shakespeare's Hamlet by highlighting minor characters. American theater scholar John Fleming also views Yuan Theater as a core element.l 演职员表
