TEQUILA BOOMBOX

TEQUILA BOOMBOX was brought together by a mutual love of rhythm, improvisation, and music that gets bodies in motion. Alongside a repertoire of classics from the blues, boogaloo and Latin jazz traditions, the band features original compositions of a "tropical jazz" flavor in every performance. Tequila Boombox has performed frequently at the House of Blues & Jazz since 2021 and recently released its self-titled debut album.

Guitar - Anton

Anton Vittal is a NYC guitarist now based in Shanghai, China. His music is influenced by Swing,

Calypso, Reggae, New Orleans Jazz, Jump Blues, Funk, and Rock’n’roll. Anton started playing guitar at early age, inspired by rock icons such as Tony Iommy, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, and many others. Soon after high school graduation Anton enrolled into music college for a jazz program. He studied with great jazz and Gypsy jazz teachers, while also getting strong knowledge of music theory.

Upon graduation, Anton started to play jazz gigs around New York City area, often with diverse musical projects. From straight ahead jazz with vocalists in a duo, to marching bands in New Orleans style, it gave Anton the opportunity to expand his musical vocabulary and performance skills.

In the summer of 2019 Anton moved to Shanghai to teach at prestigious iSchool Of Music And Art, where soon after a bugaloo style band Tequila Boombox was formed. Set to perform mostly original music in various genres of jazz and rock, Anton also continues to be a guitar player of choice for many new and well established projects on the Shanghai music scene.

Vocal - Luciana Angel

LUCIANA ANGEL has long been one of Shanghai’s most sought-after vocalists, pairing a sophisticated musicality with vivacious stage presence. With deep roots in Latin music nurtured by her native Brazil, Angel will bring euphonious melodies and an infectious sense of groove to this evening shared with Tequila Boombox.

Piano – Chad

Chad Michael，钢琴家、作曲家，来自美国北卡罗来纳州。在过去的两年里，他一直活跃于许多不同的项目中。他是"Tequila Boombox"拉丁爵士乐队的创始人，最近发行了首张专辑。也是“Shanghai Composers Collective"多学科艺术项目的联合创始人，同时还参与新灵魂乐队"Lakipak"一起演出。

Chad Michael (born Chad Michael Higgenbottom) is a pianist and composer from North Carolina, USA. He is a frequent performer at the House of Blues & Jazz and has been featured

at other notable venues in Shanghai such as The Pearl, JZ Club, Blues Plus, Yuyintang and more.

Chad is a founding member of the tropical jazz band Tequila Boombox, who recently released a debut album, and co-founder of the Shanghai Composers’ Collective, also known as 空曲(kongqu). He also performs with the neo-soul band LakiPak and a wide variety of other groups and artists based in Shanghai.

Bass - Rob Provine

Robert Provine is an American Multi-instrumentalist who can play bass, guitar and keyboards. He is also a sound engineer, music producer and tech enthusiast. He has a diverse global background, as he was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Indonesia, Turkey, America and China throughout different parts of his childhood and adult life. He has played with the Wooten Brothers in America and he is a founding member of Tequila Boombox, regularly playing bass around Shanghai with different bands such as The Misbehavers and Blues Riders. Robert was also awarded first place in Guitar Center’s nation-wide guitar competition, Guitarmageddon.

Drums - JOYE杨宇嘉

上海音乐学院现代流行打击乐专业2020年硕士研究生毕业，师从杨茹文、褚伟明教授、张旭儒。四岁开始打手鼓，六岁开始学习打击乐，之后学习架子鼓，在爵士风格的学习过程中又不断探索各种Experimental和Progressive音乐。高中时开始在各种国家参加的音乐节和比赛，并研究世界民族音乐，在经过多种打击乐的学习和世界民族性音乐的积累后，开始尝试混合民族音乐和Progressive Rock & Experimental Ethnic音乐的创作。曾多次在上海音乐学院贺绿汀，上海交响音乐厅，上海音乐厅等多地演出，受邀各大音乐学院参加学术交流音乐会，出演合作诸多音乐节活动，舞台表演经验极其丰富。
