During the initial outbreak of the pandemic in2020, the interconnected stories of three femaleprotagonists unfold simultaneously in different citiesacross China. Sylvia Chang has had an astonishing and creative film career spanning 5 decades in the fields of acting, writing, producing and directing. She won her first Golden Horse for acting in 1976, and has also appeared in U.S. TV series like M.A.S.H. She is also one of the most accomplished directors in Hong Kong cinema, winning multiple awards. She has been a member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival and also the Venice International Film Festival.
Joan Chen is a highly respected actress, director, screenwriter and producer. She has achieved the elusive by finding critical and commercial success in Hollywood, Hong Kong, and Mainland China. With her directorial debut, Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl, Chen won several major international prizes, including a sweep of the Golden Horse awards and a nomination for a Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
Li Shaohong is a renowned film and television director and producer. She is considered a member of the Fifth Generation Movement of Chinese directors, and China's top female director. Her films have won multiple awards in China and abroad, including the Golden Montgolfiere at the 1992 Three Continents Festival for the film Bloody Morning, and the Silver Bear at the 1995 Berlin International Film Festival for the film Blush.
