What can be better than listening to the live performance of some of the best music written by the musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on a spring night?

Mozart composed the Divertimenti, K. 136, in the winter of 1772, probably for one of the musical evenings held in the homes of Salzburg’ s leading residents at which he frequently performed on both keyboard and violin. Full of the exuberance of youth, the 16-year-old Mozart’ s lighthearted and energic music promises to blow away any winter gloom. The ten-year-later “Haffner” Symphony, too, arose from Mozart’ s connection with Salzburg’ s most prominent figure. The symphony is a fiery and forceful work in which classic spirit meets with aristocratic refinement, elegance and pomp.

In Piano Concerto No.23, a lithe and graceful first movement, a deeply expressive central Adagio, and an effervescent finale illuminate the different facets of Mozart’ s musical personality. Even if you have heard this concerto many times before, the interpretation by Wang Lu, a young Canadian Chinese pianist and winner of many international prizes, can make you listen with new ears, and if it is your first time, you are in one of the best possible hands.
