Stradivari Quartet was founded in 2007 and is led by the Chinese violinist Xiaoming Wang. The prestigious Gramophone magazine once described them as “a quartet worthy of their illustrious name, with the most beautiful tone, pure sound quality, and remarkable ensemble cohesion.” The Stradivari Quartet is truly a renowned chamber ensemble that lives up to its reputation.

Composed of four passionate musicians, the quartet is celebrated not only for its outstanding technical mastery but also for its deep musical insight and interpretation. Their performances bring out the individual character and uniqueness of each instrument, redefining the essence of “Stradivari”. In the world of classical music, Stradivari instruments are not merely priceless antiques; they are living pieces of history that shine brightest on stage. From the hands of the master luthier, these instruments have traveled through centuries, passed through different musicians and collectors, and now, in the hands of these accomplished artists, the legendary Stradivari sound resonates with new vitality.

One of the quartet’s most distinguished projects is the highly anticipated “Stradivari FEST”, which presents dozens of concerts each season worldwide, allowing for close interaction with audiences. StefanTarara, Second Violin

Xiaoming Wang, violin

As a highly acclaimed violinist, Xiaoming Wang is celebrated for his artistry and technical brilliance. He has enjoyed a distinguished career as both a soloist and chamber musician, performing with prestigious orchestras and at renowned international festivals.

Xiaoming Wang began learning the violin at the age of 4 and entered the affiliated elementary school of China Central Conservatory of Music at 9, studying under Professor Xu Lü before enrolling at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna at the age of 19, where he studied with the distinguished violin pedagogue Gerhard Schulz. In 1999, he won the first prize at the Stephanie Hohl Violin Competition in Vienna and a special award at the Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition in Augsburg. New York Timespraised his playing “exceptional and hauntingly beautiful sound.”

As a soloist and chamber musician, his musical journey has taken him to prestigious concert halls and festivals in over 30 countries, including Lincoln Center, Vienna Konzerthaus, Vienna Musikverein, WigmoreHall, RoyalAlbertHall, Berlin Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Zurich Tonhalle, Sydney Opera House, Tokyo Kioi Hall, Seoul Arts Center, China Nationa Center for the Performing Arts, Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Hall and etc. He frequently performs at festivals such as Rheingau Music Festival, Kissinger Summer Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Lucerne Festival, Verbier Festival, Luxembourg Chamber Music Festival, Macao International Music Festival, China NCPA May Festival, and Shanghai MISA Festival.

As a violin soloist, Xiaoming Wang has collaborated with orchestras including Philharmonia Zurich, Poznan Philharmonic, Belgrade Philharmonic, Vienna Webern Symphony, Bulgarian Philharmonic, China Philharmonic, China NCPA Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic, Guiyang Symphony, Qingdao Symphony, Kunming Symphony and etc. Currently, he serves as the concertmaster of Philharmonia Zurich and guest concertmaster of the China NCPA Orchestra, and was the former concertmaster of Verbier Festival Orchestra. He also frequently appears as guest concertmaster with world-renowned orchestras such as Deutsche Radio Philharmonic, Hamburg Philharmonic, Lucerne Symphony, Bern Symphony, and Singapore Symphony. He has worked with distinguished conductors including Lorin Maazel, Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, Bernard Haitink, Daniele Gatti, Gustavo Dudamel, Myung-whun Chung, and Valery Gergiev among others.

In 2008, he joined the Stradivari Quartet as first violin, and the ensemble now performs over 60 concerts worldwide each year. In recent years, the Stradivari Quartet has released several critically acclaimed albums.
